my psychology teacher explained this to us. we feel this way because ever since we were little, most of us in one way or another were taught not to express our emotions. for example, when a baby cries, everyone says “don’t cry”, because they don’t know how to calm the baby otherwise, it may not seem important at that moment, but it stays in the brain and as we grow, we collect these things and later on have troubles expressing our emotions and understanding our feelings.
